Stonehenge

Junction of A303 and A344/360, England

The Basics

Entrance to Stonehenge is via timed ticket. You’ll be able to view the stones from a few meters away, and shuttle transportation between the observation areas is included with entry. Access to the stones is limited to 30 minutes, but you can spend as long as you like exploring the site’s visitor center. If you want to visit the Inner Circle and walk among the stones, you’ll need to book a special tour outside of public opening hours. Day tours from London are often combined with nearby attractions such as Oxford, Windsor Castle, Bath, Stratford-Upon-Avon, or the Cotswolds.

Amazing experience
The day turned up with perfect weather to see Stonehenge. The trip to Bath and to eat at the Lacock pub were a bonus but being in the inner circle at Stonehenge was the most amazing part. Peter our tour guide kept everyone engaged in the bus with his quirky humor.

Relaxing drive to see the country and some historical wonders

Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip from London
This was a perfect way to get out of the busyness of city life and enjoy a scenic drive while also seeing some ancient sites. The bus was comfortable and clean and the driver was superb. Our guide was fun, informative and gave us enough info without being too much. There was plenty of time at Stonehenge, and enough at Bath though we could have stayed longer! All in all, it is a great value and we didn’t feel rushed.

Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip from London with Optional Roman Baths Visit
We had a lovely day visiting Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Bath. It is a whirlwind excursion lasting 12 hours. The bus is comfortable and clean. The tour company personnel are very professional. We enjoyed commentary from our guide that gave us historical context. There is no scheduled lunch break, so pack a sandwich or pick up food to-go along the way. They do not allow coffee in the bus. Cold drinks appear to be ok. Verify with the tour company.

Stonehenge Half- Day Tour from London with Admission
We had an excellent driver / tour guide. The experience at Stonehenge was a self guided tour as described. I'm glad we took the self guided tour to go at our own pace. We would go on this tour again!

Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath Tour from London with Admission
So it would have been a 5 as the tour leader was awesome, however, the check in was terrible and no one in our group + us could find the location as it was different then the designated location. Also they canceled the Stonehenge part of the tour without telling us due to the summer solstice. Some kind of notification would have been great….

Windsor Castle, Oxford and Stonehenge Tour from London
I expected opulence in Windsor Castle and mystical presence from Stonehenge but the historical introductions given by Dominic set each of the stops in perfect context. He did this in an amusing style while engaging us in a back & forth dialogue. Before setting us loose in Oxford, he presented an overview of many of the universities which was sufficiently detailed to make seeing them all desirable. He made it a great experience

The history behind Stonehenge is absolutely fascinating. We got to stay there a little longer than other tours too which was a major plus! Comfortable ride with interesting and witty tidbits of history. Great experience!

When to Get There

Stonehenge is open all year round, but the most atmospheric time to visit is during the summer or winter solstice, when a huge party celebrates the longest and shortest days of the year, and entrance is free. Although visits are timed, it can get crowded in summer, so arrive early or opt for a sunrise or sunset tour to experience the landmark at its most photogenic.
